It was good to celebrate our 60th Anniversary as a church on Sunday 22nd November 2015 with a special service followed by a lunch together. With 'Back to the Future' very much in the news in recent weeks there were plenty of references to 1955 plus a glimpse into what the world might look like a century on from our opening - in 2055! Accompanied by a PowerPoint with slides for every one of the last 60 years, everyone stood up for the first picture, 2015, and sat down when we got to the year in which they arrived, providing the answer to the question 'who of you is left who saw this house when it first opened?' Only four remained!
This was followed through with a sermon taken from the book of Haggai - with the need to look back with His-tory at the Lord's faithfulness in the past, to look around with His help at the world around us, and to look to the future with His hope.
It was very uplifting to hear so many individual stories of the part that the church has played in people's lives, and to celebrate together the goodness of the Lord - back in the past, now in the present, and into the future. Maybe you'll be part of that future too?
