Lives Changed by God:
Sometimes people think that you are born a Christian... but in fact it's when you really believe in Christ that you become a Christian. This happened to me when I was 21 years old.
I was at Sheffield University and had no particular interest in Christianity or God except a basic understanding that there must be a God, although the thought of being involved in anything religious was far from my mind.
However I shared student lodgings with another person who was a Christian and watched with some surprise at him reading a Bible and praying. This set me thinking about life, creation, and was there any purpose to life - especially mine!
Obtaining a Bible and starting to read the Gospel of John I came face to face with a Person I'd never really given much time to... Jesus Christ.
The more I read the more convinced I became that here was someone who was unique. In one story I read that even Jesus' own disciples would say of Him, 'What kind of man is this?' ... and I learned that a proper translation would be: 'Which world did this man come from?', so amazed were they at what He said and did.
I also read that Jesus was the Messiah, the Saviour of the World, and in 1956 He became my Saviour. That was over 48 years ago and He is still my Saviour, still the One I trust, still thrilling me as I read of His love, compassion, perfection, kindness, most of all remembering what His death and resurrection means and how He has made the difference to my life.
